Does re-sizing a ring make it weaker?

No, definitely not!!

If the ring is being made smaller the client’s finger is measured and the amount needed to be removed calculated. The sawcut is made through the original join. The exact amount needed is removed. The ring is bent in a tighter circle and the metal soldered. The ring is then re-shaped on a mandrill and polished so it is just like new again!

If the ring is being made larger, the client’s finger is measured and the amount needed to be added is calculated. The sawcut is made through the original join. The ring is expanded to fit the extra piece and the ring is soldered in two places. It is re-shaped on a mandrill and polished ready to wear and enjoy.  It is as strong as it was previously and it is not possible to see the joins.
