FAQs
- Q?Do you repair jewellery?
-
A.
Yes, repairs are apart of a jeweller’s job to support their clients. This entails anything and everything – from resizing rings, replacing gemstones to repairing settings.
- Q?Can you re-string my pearls?
-
A.
Yes, I can re-string your pearls or beads. Pearls are restrung on silk, which is dyed if necessary to match the pearl colour. Beads can be strung on flexible wire or silk.
- Q?How do I care for my opal?
-
A.
Opals need a little extra care as they a ‘soft’ gemstone compared to others, so they are susceptible to scratching and losing their polish from wear. Therefore, I prefer them in a rub-over setting to maximise their protection. This is a crafting step that I undergo to ensure the durability and longevity of your jewellery.
Given their ‘softness’, it is advised to avoid wearing your opal when gardening or washing up.
- Q?How long does it take for my piece of jewellery to be made?
-
A.
The time frame depends on how complex the design and my workload at that time. It is best to allow 3 weeks minimum. But I will do my very best to accommodate birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
- Q?Will I need to come to your studio?
-
A.
A private appointment is essential to understand your ideas and your brief. Then we can discuss the options to create the custom piece of your dreams.
For clients living far from Brisbane, a Zoom call is the best option.
- Q?Will you supply a gift box?
-
A.
I have gift boxes that show off each piece of jewellery to its best advantage whether a ring, pendant, bracelet or necklace.
- Q?Will I need to pay a deposit?
-
A.
Once you have agreed to the design and technical drawing supplied and accepted the quote, I will need a deposit of about 1/3 of the total cost. This gives a commitment for both you and me for the completion of your custom made piece of jewellery in the time frame decided.
- Q?What payment methods do you accept?
-
A.
I am very flexible with payment methods. Methods include credit/debit card, bank transfer, cheques, PayPal, cash. If none of these suit, I am open to discuss other options with you.
- Q?Can you buy gemstones for me?
-
A.
I have access to many wholesale gem merchants and with my knowledge of gemstones I can skillfully select the best available stones for you to make your choice. This is particularly helpful if you want coloured stones. There are risks attached to buying on-line from an unknown source.
- Q?Do you have a shop?
-
A.
I work from a studio by appointment only which helps to keep the overheads down. I regularly display new pieces on my Website or Social Media so you can see the style of jewellery I create. Some will be available for purchase. Others have been commissioned by clients.
- Q?Can I bring my own gemstone?
-
A.
One of my specialities is recreating jewellery; removing gemstones, identifying them and smelting the gold ready to reuse. I often make pieces of jewellery using gemstones that a client has had for many years but haven’t known what to do with them.
