High Set Amethyst & Diamond Ring

This fabulous design was given to me by my daughter-on-law along with the Amethyst.  The gemstone was top grade quality, a rich purple colour with excellent cut and clarity,  a small inheritance from a great-grandmother.   Because of the height of the setting and thickness of the metal a wax mould had to be prepared and the ring cast in 18ct Yellow Gold.  A narrow 18ct White Gold sleeve was made to surround the girdle of the gemstone.  The sleeve sitting on top of the ring exposed  the stones from the sides yet it was still protected by the setting.  The frosted  finish was created by gently stippling.  Four diamonds were then set sideways under the Amethyst to add sparkle to the ring.
