Time to re-model some old pieces?

Do you have many old pieces of jewellery sitting in the bottom of of your cabinet or drawer? Are they special to you or were once special to a loved one? Why not combine or re-model them into something that you can not just carry with you but is now uniquely yours as well?

One of the most pleasing aspects of my work is re-cycling old jewellery that is not worn and has been sitting in the bottom drawer for years. It is possible to do this with all the noble metals, ie Sterling Silver, 9ct and 18ct whether white or yellow or rose gold. I first assess the jewellery and advise whether it is worth keeping by value or age. Then I group the metals in their respective carats and smelt them down to the raw metal. Then some work must be done to prepare the metal by putting it through a rolling mill to compress it to a better size. I might flatten some of it for a shank or draw it through a plate to make wire as there are various shapes needed for any item of jewellery. Then the metal is ready to create a new and exciting modern or classical item that you would like to wear.

As I am working with jewellery all the time I have lots of ideas that can help you make decisions on the style you might like. I also have many catalogues to browse through to help you consolidate any ideas you have.

If you have a dream piece in your mind and would simply like to see it on paper fully designed please contact me and take the first steps.

it all starts with an enquiry

    Your Enquiry

    1.
My first contact with a client is from a phone call or email where we establish what is wanted and then arrange an appointment. Sometimes I am sent a photo with a ‘Can you make this for me?’

    Consultation

    2.
At this time I study the client’s style and jewellery which gives me clues as to what they would like. I usually spend an hour or more with them nutting out the design, drawing rough sketches, checking the measurements such as width of band, type of setting, gemstones required, finger size, 9 or 18ct gold, etc, etc

    Creation

    4.
The gold and gemstones (if required) are sourced. The metal is prepared on the Rolling Mill to the proportions needed for the band and the setting. The band and settings are bent into shape and soldered then tapped into perfect shapes on a mandrill. Then these are filed and fitted together very neatly and soldered again. Once the ring is together it is polished to a high sheen and the white gold rhodium plated.

    Colaboration
    3. I make a detailed sketch so we are both clear about the design of the ring and how it will look on the finger. Any adjustment can then be made. A Quote is also submitted for the job. Once this is all accepted the creation can begin.
    Presentation

    5.
With the ring made to the correct finger size the fitting will be just right. Clients are delighted and surprised with the result. From the drawing to the finished article is a big change.

I was so pleased that you captured my ideas for an ‘art deco’ style ring and created such a beautiful piece, which was no doubt a challenge with my request to combine several beloved family pieces. I was thrilled with the price, right within my budget. I will definitely be recommending you to friends and family.

    Payment plans are available

If you love jewellery then we want to have something special if it is being handcrafted.  But your budget may not stretch too far.  To make your dreams come true when you order a piece of jewellery I need a deposit but to make it easier for you we can arrange several payments over a few months so you can have that piece you have longed for but don’t want to fill up your credit card.

This is how it works. I give you an Invoice with the deposit received. Then with each payment you are sent a further Invoice with that deposit received.  You have a record and when you make the final payment you may take possession of your new item. This has worked well for a number of clients.
